Elise Garcia, AMFT

Are you or your teen feeling anxious, frustrated, or alone? Are you or your teen experiencing difficulty with interpersonal relationships, struggling with comparison and self-doubt, or overwhelmed by emotions?

Philosophy

No matter what is going on, Elise is committed to providing you or your teen with a safe and non-judgmental space to cultivate a life living as your most authentic self. Elise’s therapeutic philosophy begins from meeting the client where they are at. Elise believes that everyone has unique needs and thus therapy will look different for each person. Elise engages in a collaborative approach as she believes you are the expert when it comes to your lived experiences.

To support this, Elise uses a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach when assisting clients through the process of understanding themselves and bridging the mind-body connection. Elise’s mission is to empower her clients to utilize their innate strengths and support the development of new skills to nurture their relationships with others and themselves.

Education

Elise obtained her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. Elise later received her Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California.

Experience

Elise began her clinical experience at a community-based mental health agency working with children, adolescents, and their families in Los Angeles County. Elise provided school-based psychotherapy services to children and teens struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, grief, and family stress. Elise served the community alongside a team of occupational therapists, psychiatrists, social workers, and parent partners to ensure clients with the highest quality of care specific to their individual and family needs.

In addition to her work at Breathe Center, Elise is a primary therapist at a treatment center offering partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs to adolescents and adults struggling with eating disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and anxiety disorders in both group and individual therapy settings.

Elise, a former Division I student-athlete, lived the intense student-athlete lifestyle, learning perseverance, drive, integrity, and courage through her sport. Despite her success, she faced her own mental health challenges. Now, combining her athletic experience and clinical education, she is passionate about supporting the unique needs of athletes and high performers.
