Education
Megan obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She then went on to obtain both her Masters in School Counseling and her Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California.
Experience
Megan taught 3rd-6th graders before moving to California to attend USC for School Counseling. In 2012 she began working for Dana Middle School in Wiseburn/Hawthorne as a School Counseling Intern. Following that internship, Dana hired her full-time as one of their two school counselors.
While working at Dana, Megan began her second Masters's program in Marriage and Family Therapy. Her clinical training commenced at the YWCA in South Los Angeles, where she provided trauma therapy to victims of abuse, sexual assault, and rape.
Up until 2016, Megan played two distinct roles at Dana. As a therapist, she maintained a caseload of students (and their families) who received weekly on-site psychotherapy services. She also provided typical school counseling services to her portion of the Dana student body. When Megan joined Breathe.Center as a staff therapist in 2016, her therapy work at Dana shifted to exclusively short-term crisis intervention.
Megan has a unique knowledge base that allows her to provide excellent insight into the complicated relationship between school and mental health. Her background in trauma prepared her for any level of emotional distress.
